According to the death certificate for Arthur Swertfeger, his father's name was
Chris. The census record for 1880 (Vol. 57, sheet 19, line 15) says that
Arthur's father's name was August.

August was born in Prussia, possibly in Huette.

In 1880, he was living in Whiteside Co., Sterling Township, Illinois.

Arthur was a farmer in 1880. There was no city street or house number.

There were 2 farmhands working on his farm in 1880:

1. Stephan Camp - from Canada - 50 yrs. old and married
2. George ? - from Prussia

There is record of an August Schwertfeger - 25 yrs old - immigrating to Ill. in
1861 - Ship Passenger Lists - Ill. State Gen. Soc. Quart. Vol. 18:1 (Spring 86)
