After high school, she went to Texas to live with her aunt, Albina Koval, and
attended school at the University of Houston for one year. There were no
openings at the University of Richmond at that time, so she went to Houston. A
year later, there were plenty of openings in Richmond, so she came back home
and attended Westhampton, a girl's school and part of the University of
Richmond.
