Nuptials in Prince George - December 1, 1897

A double marriage took place Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Salem
Methodist Church in Prince George County. It was the most brilliant nuptial
event that the people of that neighborhood have witnessed in years. The happy
pairs were Mr. J.D. Magee and Miss Molly R. Horne and Mr. J.B. Magee and Miss
Maggie M. Spiers.
Long before the appointed time the beautiful church was filled with people.
The waiters were Mr. Aubrey Spiers with Miss Mattie Horne; Mr. Nat King with
Miss Lena Spiers; Mr. John Horne with Miss Daisy King; Mr. William Leonard with
Miss Mintie Daniel; Mr. Tom Wilkerson with Miss Mary Leonard; Mr. Tom Ambrose
with Miss Eunice Harwell; Mr. Bob Saunders with Miss Bessie Peebles; Mr. John
Leath with Miss Sallie Brown; and Mr. Charles Lee with Miss Susie Raines. The
ceremony was performed by Reverend C.H. Green. After the ceremony the happy
couples accompanied by a number of friends and acquaintances retired to the
residence of Mr. J.B. Magee where a reception was tendered them.
Mr. J.D. Magee is a well known farmer in Sussex County. His bride is a
charming little blonde.
Mr. J.B. Magee who is the brother of Mr. J.D. Magee is also a farmer and a
prominent citizen of Prince George. His bride is a pronounced blonde and is
very popular.
The popularity of the couples was demonstrated by the number of presents
they received.
