Very dominant minister who gave church services in German and English.
The Church on Jefferson is located in the area where UPS is now. The Church was destroyed by the 1896 tornado. The Church on TN has a cornerstone dated 1906. I don't know what happened during those 10 years but suspect that a temporary location was used probably near the Church on Jefferson. This information came from a local member of the Church who showed us the parsonage next door which is now used as an office building. He also said that the first service (I believe in the TN Church) was held in English which confused most all the attendees. In 1912, another cornerstone marks the building of a larger addition which houses the organ and main sanctuary. Reverend Walser's picture is in a succession of pictures depicting all the past ministers. He was the third minister starting 8/1/1881 with the first minister starting his reign in 1870. Walser was the first minister in the TN address.
The front page story in the Globe Democrat at his death said he came to this country with his parents when he was 4 years old. In his obituary he was listed as being 75yr 1mo 5days old and Dr. Otto T. Walser as a son. He was living at 2348 Tennessee and a footnote called for Wheeling West Virginia papers to copy. Funeral at St. Lukes says his age was 72 years 10 months 22 days? The latter figure is correct. Laid in state at the parsonage.
In the St Lucas Cemetary plots purchased by Henry are:
Grave 1 Isidor and Marie
Grave 2 Martha and Henry (infants)
Grave 3 Clara Klerner 83 years old 8/29/1958 circular fibrillation
(a friend of Minnie's)

Grave 7 Minnie W. Decker 73 years 9/8/56 mesenteric thrombosis
Grave 8 Rev. Henry Walser 72 years 10/24/26 myocarditis

Pastor at St Lukes for 45 years according to newpaper article about John W. Deckers retirement. St Lukes was founded in 1870.
