He died of a heart attack on 18 Nov 1962 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. Allen Speir, 74, of 120 Winton Place, was dead on arrival yesterday morning at Sacred Heart Hospital after he became ill at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry F. Kelso, Ridgeley. Born at Carlos, he was a son of the late Allen and Louise (Broadbeck) Speir. His wife, Eva C. (Smith) Speir, preceded him in death. He was a member of F. 0. Eagles 245. He retired in 1956 as a clerk for the Western Maryland Railroad after 34 years of service. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Kelso, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Buford McDonald, Ridgeley; three sons, Allen J. Speir, Roberts Place, and William J. and John J. Speir, both of Cumberland; two brothers, Hugh Speir, Roberts Place, and William, Cleveland; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Morgan, Carlos, and 11 grandchildren. The body is at the George Funeral Home where friends will be received today and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Eagles will conduct a servce tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday at 9 a.m. by Rev. Ernest Horning, OFM, Cap., pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Church. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home tomorrow at 8 p.m. The Cumberland Evening Times, November 19, 1962 He was buried on 20 Nov 1962 in St. Peter's and Paul's Cemetery, Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland.
