Spiers, James (b. 1838, d. 18 APR 1862)
Note: He is either buried in Greenwood Cemetery on West Street in Jackson, Ms. or in an unmarked grave in Spiers Cemetery, McNeill, Ms. According to Talmage Spiers, his Grandfather, Jimmy Gill that stayed with John Sr. saying that during the Civil War he had gone to Jackson to get a sick son, possibly this was James and John had gone to get his body. James enlisted in the Confederate Army Company "C", 38th Ms. Volunteers on March 25, 1862 at Gainesville, Ms. He died in the Confederate Army hospital in Jackson, Ms. - now Veterans Hospital.

In the 1880 Hancock County census Thomas was listed as a 41 yr old farmer living in beat 43 with wife Mary Dunn age 41 and 8 children, including step son Levi Holliman.
In the 1900 census Tom was listed as a 59 yr old farmer living in beat 4 with wife Mary Dunn age 55, married 33 yrs and having 13 children with 9 living. 2 children were living at home at the time, Arvel age 20 and Joseph age 17.
Tom had a homestead of 160 acres that was on the east and west side of where the Rock Ranch road intersects with the Mill Creek road. It also encopases the Lee's Chapel Cemetery and Church, Mill Creek, Pearl River County, Ms.
Note: In the 1900 census, Pearl River County, Ms. James Erving was listed as a 43 year old Teamster living in beat 5 with his second wife Mary Jane Miller age 30, married 2 yrs having 6 children with only 5 living. Livivng with him at the time were 3 sons and 4 stepchildren, Charles Smith age 12, Byrtis Smith age 11, Burstes E. Smith age 8, and Nancy Smith age 4. In the 1910 Pearl River County, Ms. Census James was listed as a 40 year old Sawyer living in beat 4 with his second wife Jane age 36 married 14 years, having 10 children with 9 living. Living with him at the time were 7 children and 1 stepson, Charles Alford Smith age 21. Son Daniel age 26 was listed as a Teamster.
Note: In the 1910 census it stated that William Jones was Sarah's second husband.
Note: In the 1900 census Thomas Richard was listed as a 30 yr old raftsman living in beat 5 with wife Sarah Mitchell age 24 and 5 children. Living with them at the time was Jefferson P. Davis age 64 a farmer from Alabama.
In the 1910 census Thomas was was listed as a 40 year old farmer, owning his farm, living in beat 5 with his wife and having 10 children 9 of which were living at home. Boarding with them was Jefferson Davis age 74.
In the 1920 census Thomas was listed as a 50 yr old farmer living in beat 5 on the Henleyfield to McNeill road with his wife Sarah and 8 of their children, a neice Minnie S. Lindsey age 22, and a grand niece Anna Lindsey age 3.
Note: In the 1900 census Eliza Jane was listed as a 47 yr old widow living in beat 3 with her 9 children, including Horace age 21, working in a sawmill, Hiram age 19, working in a sawmill and Melvin age 17 also working in a sawmill.

Note: In the 1900 Hancock, Ms. census, Thomas was listed as a 34 yr old charcoal burner living in beat 2 with his wife, Nellie, age 29, married 5 yrs and having 3 children.
In the 1920 Marion County, Ms. census Thomas was listed as a 54 year old farmer living in beat 2 with his wife and 4 of their children, Sarah age 16, Herman Age 12and Hollis age 11.
