Note: My name is Mary Hughes Bondurant. My great-grandparents were Edward Marshall and Courtney Hughes. If I have read the wonderful pages that you have put together correctly, Edward and Courtney were your great-great grand parents. Your grandmother's father was my grandfather's older brother. My grand father was Thomas P Hughes. He always claimed to be the seventh son of a seventh son. He was born in the home built by Edward and Courtney and before Courtney died in 1926 he had moved his growing family back to this home and there he raised my father and his other 8 children. The home is still standing, but is abandoned since the death of my oldest aunt who had inherited. I know we are distant kin, but your grandmother was my grandfather's niece and that seems quite close. I have been surfing the net late at night to make myself sleeply. I put in Edward Marshall's name and found this abundance of family. Thank you for helping me feel connected. My parents and their siblings has passed from this life. I live in a wonderful community, but it is far from all my close kin. I do so still miss Texas, but even good choices like marriage and employment can spread families apart. I suppose that is the reason I had never heard of Lorena. If you ever wish to pick my memory, my E-mail is wmbondurant@@RoadRunner.com. Thank you for all the time and effort, skill and knowledge it took to develop this website. Sincerely, Mary Bondura

In Memory of MRs. S. L. Perry
On the morning of Oct. 19, 1918, the home of Mr. J. G. Perry was cast into sorrow and gloom by the death of his mother, Mrs. Sarah L. Perry, nee Penny, aged 84 yeats 5 months and 23 days.
Deceased had been in feeble health for several years, but had only been confined to her bed five days. She was stricken very suddenly with paralysis on Saturday before her death. All that medical aid and loving hands could do was done but to no avail. She is survived by four sons and a number of grand and great grandchildren, her husband having preceded her to the home beyond years ago. The sons are: T. N. Perry, Osyka, Miss., J. G. Perry, Lamourie, La., W. L. Perry, Longleaf, La. and Burrel Perry, Oakdale, La. It was hard to give grandma up, how we shall miss her dear face and bright smile from our home.
Her gentleness of manner and kind disposition won the friendship of all those who knew her, and the memory of her unselfish devotion to the family and friends will always linger to cheer them in the sad hour of their affliciton. It seems like a dream that she has gone from us to Him, never to return, but in the midst of these sad hours we know He doeth all things well, and may her pure life prove a beacon light, that will light our pathway to that home above. The remains were laid to rest in the Paul grave
yard near Lecompte, La., Sunday, Oct. 20., Rev. J. N. Weingertconducting the funeral services.
Weep not that her toils are over. Weep not that her race is run. God grant we may rest as calmly
When our work like her's is done. A Friend
