Rouse, Henry Burrell (b. ABT 1777, d. 1828)
Note: Ref. Disc #13 PN 483584. The 1820 Census of Jackson County, Mississippi has
Burrell Rouse over 45 years old with 3 males under 10, 2 males 10 to 15 years
old and 1 male 18 to 25. Females 1 under 10 years old one female 16 to 25 years old
and 1 female 25 to 44 years old. 3 were involved in agruculture. The 1840 Census
of Jackson County has this family with males 16-20 as , males 20-30 as 1, females
15-20 as 2 and one female 50 to sixty. This was probably Mary Byrd Rouse. Burwell
had died before this time.
There is some indication that Burwell and Mary Jane and their family were chased out of Orangeburg, South Carolina by Indians about 1809. This is when they came to Mississippi, and settled in the Pascagoula River Area in a community now called Buzzard Roost.
Mary Jane Byrd was supposedly Burwell's second wife. To date I have not found who his first wife was.
Burwell died while visiting Cumberland County, North Carolina
Some people have his name as Henry Burrell Rouse.
