As a memeber of the United States Army, Albert became a clerk typist/disbursing agent. His first duty station after training, in 1965 was Fort William D. Davis in the Panama Canal Zone, where he served with the 10th Mechanised Infantry. His next duty station was Ft. Ord, California in the year 1966 where he was assigned as a member of the permanent party personnel. In December 1966 he traveled to Pleiku, Vietnam to begin his year of service there. After 3 weeks in Pleiku and 2 weeks at the 90th Replacement Batallion at Long Binh he spent 3 months at the 1st Logistical Headquarters in Saigon. The remainder of the year was spent headquartered in Vung Tau, but travelilng through the entire country, and spending the majority of his time in the South or the "Delta" region of the country, as a member of the 9th Financial Detachment, of which he was a "Charter Member" as he was the first N.C.O. assigned to the unit.
Neil died in December of 1995 after a long hard struggle with the Aids virus. Neil contracted the virus in a blood transfusion he recieved as an infant (8 1/2 weeks old). He was 11 years old at the time of his death.[Spence.FTW]
