"Uncle Virge" was a Farmer and cattleman. He was the Police Jury Commissioner
for Ward One, Calcasieu Parish, most of the latter part of his life.
He and Bertie lived on the southwest corner of "downtown" Gillis. He owned the
prominent hill in Section 4 8S 8W. He rice farmed a large amount of land in the
area. The hill is still in the family, now belonging to grandson Billie Rosteet. In the
early 1900s, the hill was the site of the Kingrey Store.
