Jay J. Brill died Monday at Sutter Oaks Convalescent Hospital in Carmichael. He was 83. Born in Missoula, Montana, he moved to San Francisco in 1938 and to Sacremento in 1960. He had lived in Roseville since 1988. He was an insurance agent for 30 years, retiring from Republic National Life Insurance Company in 1970. He was a graduate of the University of Idaho, and he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega national fraternity.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Bud McNeil, and his wife, Marge, of Roseville and a nephew, Jerry McNeil and his wife Jan, of Roseville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna M. Brill in October. Private services were held at 10 a.m. today, and burial was at the Roseville District Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Roseville Hospital and may be left with the staff of Cochrane's Chapel of the Roses, 103 Lincoln St. in Roseville.
