Collins William [Male] b. 03 JUN 1802 Dalwood, Devon, England - d. 22 JUL 1892 Honiton, Devon, England

[wwspiers-erickson.GED]

About 1850, William and family moved from Stockland to Hale Farm in Honiton, and the family has lived there ever since. A Heyman Collins (b. 1909) lives there as of this date (1984). Honiton is located on Highway A30 which runs from London to Exeter. Much of the town was destroyed by fires in the late 1700's so many houses are fairly recent by English standards. The town has a diversity of industries ans is famous for making lace. St. Michael's Church is situated on a hill south of town and is no longer used as a church. it was badly burned in 1911 but has been partially restored. A new church, St. Paul's, has been built close to the center of town. William's children were all apparently born to his first wife, and were born at Stockland, which is north and east of Honiton. the 1851 census lists William as living at Hale Farm with his wife, Mary Ann, and 8 children. In Stockland the family lived at Rosefarm.
